When Kaito devours encryption social media: How did we become victims of the "shout economy"?
Author: defizard
Compiled by: Luffy, Foresight News
In April 2023, I joined CT (Crypto Twitter) with a group of friends.
At that time, we were all writing airdrop strategies, spending 1-2 hours writing a tweet, easily getting 100,000 views within 12 hours. We did this every day: waking up, writing tweets, posting, eating, sleeping, in a continuous cycle.
I think, during that time, our small group of content creators probably accounted for about 10% of the entire CT's attention. Looking back now, that was truly a golden age.
Personally, I receive 1-2 collaboration invitations from partners every month who want to promote their activities. But at that time, what matters is not the money, but the influence.
One day I woke up and found that a tweet from my account with only 10,000 followers actually had 400,000 views. My thought at the time was: "Is this real? I can hardly believe it."
Seeing so many views and likes brings me more joy than the numbers in my wallet multiplied by 100 (at that time it was only four digits, but anyway, money is money, and this is the first time I've earned so much in my life).
This situation continued until September 2023, when some changes were made to the algorithm. In the meantime, I faded out of CT until December 2023. If you're curious about the reason, it's because I had some interesting things to deal with in real life, so I posted a maximum of three tweets per month.
Around August 2023, I realized that the airdrop field was not a long-term plan and not suitable for me. I wanted to... become a DeFi beginner.
Look at all the creators who are currently doing airdrop content, where are they? I can't see them at all in the information flow, like ardizor, CC2, etc.
December 2023, this is a new chapter in my CT career. A new writing style, more heartfelt investment, new illustrations, more connections, but fewer views.
You may wonder, has the view count really decreased? Yes, it has decreased.
I started putting in a lot more energy than ever before, but the tweet only got 20,000 views. Well, sometimes it can reach 100,000, but it's not as bad as it is now.
You asked what the situation is now?
Due to the popularity of InfoFi narratives (mainly because of Kaito), people are posting low-quality content. The overall quality of content has significantly declined, with 99% of people posting simply because "the X protocol allocates 5% of tokens to the yappers, so I need to yap a bit more."
The more rewards allocated to the yapper for the project, the worse the situation becomes.
What else?
I feel that the quality of my content has reached an all-time high, and the effort I put in is also increasing simultaneously, but the views and the number of new followers have dropped to an all-time low.
My entire information stream is filled with the Kaito leaderboard, which is of no value.
What should we do?
Perhaps during the quiet market times, we can chat about various protocols on Kaito, try to provide valuable content, improve content quality as much as possible, and make it unique.
Wishing all content creators good luck. This path is becoming increasingly difficult, and only the strongest can survive and thrive. Stay focused and patient, whether in CT or in life. One day, you will be rewarded.
