Ether Square Pectra upgrade delayed due to test vulnerabilities, developers will conduct additional testing

PANews March 7th news, according to CoinDesk, Ethereum developers decided to postpone the Pectra upgrade due to configuration errors on Testnet Holesky and Sepolia, and further testing will be conducted. The postponement was originally intended to confirm the mainnet release date of Pectra at the teleconference on March 6, but due to unstable testing, the developers decided to create a "shadow fork" of HoleskyTestnet to allow key stakeholders (such as staking pools and DApp developers) to continue testing its code before Pectra goes live. The Holesky network is expected to resume normal operation on March 28. Pectra core upgrade improvements: • EIP-7702: Granting wallet smart contract functionality, advancing account abstraction, allowing payment of transaction fees in non-ETH. • EIP-7251: Increase the maximum staking amount for validators from 32 ETH to 2,048 ETH, reduce validator node splitting, and improve network operation efficiency. While the upgrade goal of Pectra is to improve the usability and competitiveness of the Ethereum network, the decision to delay has sparked dissatisfaction in the community, criticizing the Ethereum Foundation for failing to develop a clear development roadmap, placing it at a disadvantage in competing with emerging networks such as Solana.
