Stellar (XLM) is about to 'break through' 15% – rise or plummet?

Stellar (XLM) is facing the possibility of experiencing strong volatility, as the hourly chart is forming a classic triangle pattern – often signaling a price movement of up to 15%, but it is unclear which direction it will take.

Cryptocurrency analyst Ali posted on X:

"Stellar is forming a triangle pattern that could lead to a price volatility of 15%."

Source: Ali/XThe triangle pattern on the chart shows that the price is gradually narrowing within an increasingly smaller range, reflecting the struggle between the bulls and the bears. And when this accumulation process reaches a breakout threshold, the market often witnesses a strong volatility – which can be either upward or downward.

As of the time of writing, the price of XLM has decreased by 1.7% in the past 24 hours, currently hovering around 0.242 USD. Stellar has started to recover since April 7 after hitting a low of 0.2 USD and reached a daily high of 0.252 USD on Sunday morning.

On the positive side, the 50-day and 200-day moving averages at ( are at 0.273 USD and 0.291 USD) respectively, which are important thresholds. If these levels are surpassed, XLM could establish a new upward momentum, targeting the 0.375 USD mark – signaling a strong recovery from the recent lows.

Conversely, if rejected at the current level, XLM could return to retest the support level of 0.2 USD, wiping out the recovery gains. The decisive direction will depend on the buying and selling pressure across the entire cryptocurrency market.

Stellar experiences stable growth in the second half of 2024

According to the recent semi-annual report from Nansen, Stellar has undergone a stable accumulation phase in the second half of 2024. From July to November, daily trading volume remained at 1.5–2 million, despite significant market volatility causing many other blockchains to decline in metrics.

Protocol 22 has officially launched its mainnet on December 5, 2024, after a testing period starting from November 12. This upgrade adds an initializer function for Soroban smart contracts (CAP-0058) and supports the BLS12-381 encryption algorithm (CAP-0059).

The increasing presence of centralized exchanges and DeFi protocols indicates that the Stellar ecosystem is maturing, opening up potential for decentralized solutions to develop in 2025. With ongoing improvements to infrastructure, expanding cross-chain interoperability, and strengthening relationships with both the blockchain and traditional finance sectors, Stellar is seen to be in a favorable position for sustainable growth.
