A Prophecy from Banking Giant Citi about the Cryptocurrency Market!
According to the forecast of global banking giant Citi, stablecoins will play an important role not only in cryptocurrency trading but also in mainstream economics in the near future.
According to the latest report prepared by Citi Institute's think tank "Future of Finance", with the improvement of the regulatory environment, stable value digital assets will begin to be used in many areas, from payment systems and international money transfers to short-term liquidity management by banks.
Stablecoins are known as digital assets that are typically pegged to fiat currencies such as the US dollar. However, according to Citi's analysis, these assets are now going beyond simply being the "tokenized cash" for crypto investors. In the next five years, they could potentially replace some domestic and foreign currency reserves, as well as become part of short-term liquidity portfolios held in banks. If yield-generating types of stablecoins are developed, these assets are expected to be used in time deposit accounts and individual money market funds.
Citi Institute Global Head of Future Finance Ronit Ghose stated the following regarding the issue: "We are talking about the integration of stablecoins into the mainstream economy. For example, stablecoins can create a cash side for tokenized financial assets or can be used as a means of payment by SMEs and large companies. The dollar and, to a lesser extent, the euro have the status of global reserve currencies. Stablecoins make it easy and low-cost for people around the world to hold dollars or euros."
