Vietnam Prepares Meeting with the US to Reach Trade Agreement
The chairman of Vietnam's major party To Lam announced that he is preparing to travel to the US in the coming weeks to reach a trade agreement before the tariffs of President of the United States (AS) Donald Trump take effect. However, the spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that this meeting cannot be confirmed yet as the White House has not yet commented. In addition, if this meeting takes place, the government will aim for the tariffs from the US to be only in the range of 20% to 25%. As information, Vietnam has received a tariff from Trump of 46%, which is quite large compared to several trading partner countries. Vietnam feels that its clothing industry has become very important to the US, so negotiation efforts should be mutually beneficial.
