Hut 8 activates the world's largest single-site Bitcoin Mining facility, Vega
According to Deep Tide TechFlow news, on July 1, Hut 8 Corp. (NASDAQ | TSX: HUT) announced today that its Vega data center has been powered on for the first time. This facility is considered the largest single Bitcoin mining facility in the world. Vega covers an area of 162,000 square feet and is equipped with a nominal energy capacity of 205 megawatts, providing approximately 15 EH/s of Bitcoin mining computing power when fully operational, accounting for about 2% of the current global Bitcoin network hashrate.
Vega will deploy up to 17,280 Bitmain U3S21EXPH servers, which is Bitmain's first large-scale commercial U-shaped direct chip liquid-cooled ASIC mining machine, capable of providing up to 860 TH/s of computing power with an energy efficiency of 13 J/TH.
Bitmain, as a client, will deploy a total of approximately 15 EH/s of mining machines on Vega, which is expected to bring Hut 8 an annualized revenue of between 110 million to 120 million US dollars. The agreement also includes a purchase option, which, if exercised, will expand Hut 8's self-mining capacity from 10 EH/s to approximately 25 EH/s.
According to previous news, Vega is expected to be powered on in the second quarter of 2025, in preparation for the approximately 15 EH/s hosting agreement reached with Bitmain.
