South Korea: Introduce AI into elementary, middle and high school courses from 2025, and achieve full coverage by 2028

According to the Financial Associated Press, citing South Korea’s Asia Daily, the South Korean Ministry of Education stated that in order to meet the growing demand for diverse learning content, artificial intelligence (AI) digital textbooks will be introduced in primary and secondary schools from 2025.

Beginning in the spring of 2025, students in the third and fourth grades of primary schools in South Korea, as well as the first and first graders of junior high school will use Chinese, mathematics, English, and information technology AI textbooks, and plan to expand the application subjects and grades every year, and achieve full coverage by 2028.

South Korea plans to expand AI courses to subjects such as society, science, family economics, and science and technology in 2026; to include history courses in 2027; and to fully implement AI courses in addition to practical courses such as sports, music, and art in 2028.

It was previously reported that South Korea plans to adopt AI technology in all schools and will train teachers on AI textbooks.
