Will Bitcoin Surpass Gold? Big Changes Expected for ETFs in 2025 - Coin Bulletin
ETF Store President Nate Geraci shared his predictions for cryptocurrency ETFs for 2025.
Geraci argues that the Trump administration's approach to digital assets will be sharply different from the Biden era. Geraci, who states that the new administration will play a critical role in shaping the cryptocurrency market, used the expression, 'Gary Gensler used to define crypto as the 'Wild West.' However, under the Trump administration, we will truly experience a 'Wild West'.
In the Trump administration, it is expected that crypto-friendly Paul Atkins will replace Gary Gensler as the SEC Chairman. Additionally, it is stated that David Sacks, known from Silicon Valley, will be appointed to a new advisory position with the title of "Crypto Czar". Under Sacks' leadership, a crypto advisory council will be formed to shape policies for digital assets. These steps are expected to trigger the rapid growth of the sector by providing regulatory clarity for crypto ETFs in the US.
Crypto Currency ETFs May Take Off
According to Geraci, thanks to these regulations, Bitcoin and Ethereum's spot ETFs can surpass gold-based ETFs. While it is expected that spot Ethereum ETFs will obtain approval for staking and options trading, the emergence of spot ETFs for altcoins like Solana and XRP is also anticipated. Additionally, the launch of crypto index ETFs by major players such as Grayscale and Bitwise is among the possibilities.
However, innovations in the ETF space will not be limited to these alone. At least 50 new products, ranging from 'Bitcoin bond' ETFs to crypto-based equity ETFs, are expected to be launched. Another noteworthy prediction from Geraci is that the traditional finance giant Vanguard may open its doors to crypto ETFs, providing its customers with access to Bitcoin and Ethereum spot ETFs.
