JPMorgan CEO Bitcoin Did Not Ignore: Spoke Again, Slammed from the Ground Up! - Coin Bulletin
JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon, while maintaining his negative perspective on Bitcoin, highlighted the use of cryptocurrency in criminal activities.
Jamie Dimon, despite the broader institutional acceptance of the cryptocurrency Bitcoin, still does not favor it.
In a recent interview with CBS, a prominent bank executive expressed that he does not feel "good" about Bitcoin, emphasizing that the cryptocurrency actually has no intrinsic value. Additionally, he reported that Bitcoin is heavily used for money laundering and other criminal activities.
Dimon has long been known as a critic of Bitcoin and continues to approach it with caution despite the wider institutional adoption of cryptocurrency.
In 2017, Dimon said he would fire any employee at JPMorgan who trades with Bitcoin, and called it "a fraud".
Last year, he also advised against getting involved with Bitcoin. Dimon likened Bitcoin to cigarettes, saying that people should have the right to buy it, but he did not see it as a smart decision.
However, despite this, Dimon launched a Bitcoin fund for JPMorgan in 2021. It was also revealed last year that the bank made a small investment in Bitcoin ETFs.
It seems unlikely that Dimon, as the CEO of JPMorgan, will warm up to cryptocurrency. The 68-year-old billionaire has been leading the largest bank in the United States for approximately 20 years and also mentioned his retirement plans during the interview.
