The Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) has approved the Hashdex Nasdaq XRP Index Fund. According to the local news channel Portal do Bitcoin's report on Wednesday, this development positions Brazil as the country preparing to launch the world's first spot XRP exchange-traded fund (ETF).
According to the information on CVM's official website, the Hashdex Nasdaq XRP Index Fund is currently in the pre-trading stage. According to local media reports, while it is expected that the XRP fund will be traded on Brazil's B3 exchange, Hashdex has not yet announced an official launch date.
This approval comes at a time when spot XRP ETF applications are being scrutinized in the US. The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) recently announced that it is reviewing XRP ETF applications submitted by 21Shares, Bitwise, Grayscale, CoinShares, and other investment companies. In addition, spot ETF applications based on other altcoins such as Solana and Litecoin have also been accepted by the SEC for review.
The mentioned applications and developments in the field of legal regulations are considered as a reflection of the positive changes in the cryptocurrency ecosystem with Donald Trump's reelection.
