Information has come from the SEC: Soon, an expected major development may be announced!
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) seems to be warming up to crypto staking operations, potentially paving the way for inclusion of exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
According to insider information shared by Fox Business reporter Eleanor Terrett, the SEC is showing intense interest in staking mechanisms, even requesting industry notes detailing different staking models and their benefits.
Terrett, according to a source who recently met with the SEC, the institution is 'very, very interested' in staking, even requesting a note detailing different types of staking in the sector and their benefits, and added, 'This source expects to see some guidance on staking from the institution in the near future as it is a topic they are eagerly working on.'
This development follows recent interactions, including participation in a staking webinar held last week between the SEC's Division of Trading and Markets and stakeholders in the cryptocurrency sector. This interaction indicates a potential shift in the regulatory agency's stance on staking and its role in investment products.
As a significant move, the SEC has officially begun evaluating Cboe's 21Shares Core Ethereum ETF's 19b-4 application for staking approval. If approved, this will allow the ETF to earn additional returns through staking (ETH) of its Ethereum assets and potentially distribute these returns to investors.
