German regulators notify Apple and Google about the illegal data transmission issue related to DeepSeek.
According to Deep Tide TechFlow news on June 28, reported by Coincu, German regulators have notified Apple and Google that the data transfer of the AI company DeepSeek to users in China is illegal. Berlin's data protection officer Meike Kamp stated that DeepSeek failed to demonstrate that its data protection level is equivalent to EU standards.
In May, German authorities requested DeepSeek to make corrections, but received no response, leading to an escalation of regulation. DeepSeek was also investigated by Italy and banned from use in South Korea for similar reasons, indicating problems with its operating model.
Meike Kamp calls for consideration to block the app, but it is unclear if further action will be taken. Currently, neither Apple nor Google has made a public statement, and DeepSeek remains silent.
