An engineer from the Indian encryption trading platform CoinDCX was arrested for assisting hackers in an internal attack.
According to BlockBeats news on July 31, reported by Financefeeds, a software engineer of the Indian crypto trading platform CoinDCX, which "suffered a loss of approximately $44.2 million" due to an attack, was arrested for internally assisting the hacker, although not intentionally. The hacker installed malware on the employee's computer under the guise of part-time work; this software was a sophisticated keylogger that allowed the remote attacker to extract Agarwal's log in credentials, thereby gaining unauthorized access to CoinDCX's internal systems, leading to approximately $44 million in crypto assets being stolen. CoinDCX's parent company, Neblio Technologies, reported the violation to the authorities in Bangalore, triggering a large-scale cybercrime investigation, and the company's internal investigation revealed that the employee earned 1.5 million rupees in part-time income.
