Guest: Today, Generative AI is segmented into two categories: Web2 and Web3.

The Web2 AI models have always existed and will continue to exist where they help the users perform certain tasks like helping write emails, etc. In such models, the user is only able to participate and hardly gets incentivized for it.

On the other hand, our work for the last 3 years has been building AI technologies in the Web3 realm. Back then, it was difficult to explain our work to the community or early supporters because, on the blockchain side, the only NFT project that existed was ‘CryptoKitties’ by Dapper Labs. On the AI side, the utility and applications were not scaled for mass adoption and deployment at present. We were still in the research and development stage.

Our philosophy was to develop AI and have humans decide its path of evolution and its influence on society. The best way to keep humans in the loop is through ownership. Therefore, Alethea AI started building the AI Protocol that provides an ownership layer for the Generative AI industry. This means that the users can also participate in the economy that is being created by the industry through ownership over the AI assets.

Our thesis has always been building AI from a property rights perspective. This means that value accrual must happen for Web3 users rather than only for wealthy actors from Web2 companies.

Apart from this philosophical distinction, foundationally we started building the AI Protocol using the Ethereum blockchain as layer one of the eco. This has enabled an open and permissionless nature for our eco.

Recently Alethea AI launched the World’s First Text-to-Character Engine Competing with Open AI. Could you please give a more specific explanation of CharacterGPT?

Sure, think of CharacterGPT as ChatGPT with a face and a voice.

CharacterGPT is the world’s first multimodal generative AI that can create interactive AI Characters from a deion in natural language. In short, it enables Text-to-Character Generation or TTC. CharacterGPT is the first in a series of cutting-edge, “Text-to-X” AI s built by Alethea AI.

If you visit mycharacter.ai, a dApp built on the AI Protocol and utilizes CharacterGPT’s intelligence, you will see an interface that can take any prompt to create a realistic, interactive, and intelligent AI character. These AI characters can be tokenized as NFTs within the dApp too. This means that now the ownership of AI is accessible to anyone who owns a tokenized AI character in their wallet. This ownership also provides them the right to trade it on NFT marketplaces, improve its intelligence by training, or use it however they like.

What’s the token economy of Alethe.AI’s ALI token?

ALI Utility Token stands for Artificial Liquidity Intelligence. The term ‘Liquid’ is essential to understand the Utility of the ALI Tokens in the eco as it enables upgrading the intelligence of the iNFTs and AI characters which makes them smarter over time.

Think of every AI-Generated asset as a child, where you need to nourish it with food, shelter, care, education, etc., and ALI Tokens serves to grow this metaphorical AI child. Once this AI child is grown i.e. the iNFT/AI Character reaches a certain intelligence level, it can also perform various services like interact, debate, make a greeting video, etc. Through offering these services or working these jobs, the iNFT can earn rewards or credits that can be converted to ALI Utility Tokens.

This train-to-earn model is a way for the eco to thank the owner of the iNFT for allowing it to participate in the economy through its services, and jobs performed, and also create datasets that make the AI engines more intelligent. Every time a user interacts with an AI Character, the underlying AI engine utilizes the datasets created to become smarter.
So ALI Utility Tokens are used in the eco to create utility and also allow the governance of the AI Protocol as we progressively decentralize.

When anyone can create any character, it is indisputable that someone will end up creating harmful and malicious characters as well. Along with the content moderation council, the community members can decide which characters should be removed, disabled, or taken down through decentralized governance enabled by ALI Utility Tokens.

The economy of ALI Utility Token is multifaceted that includes everything from intelligence upgrades to governance flowing as ‘Liquidity’ throughout the eco. This enables everyone to use their AI Characters as creatively as they like.

What do you think Alethea AI means for the NFT marketplace? Will it explode the market?

We were the first to create and pioneer the concept of intelligent NFTs or iNFTs. The world’s first iNFT, Alice was auctioned at Sotheby’s by Alethea AI. iNFTs are the NFTs that are embedded and imbued with Artificial Intelligence.

Today, many companies are doing or trying to do what we did which creates a positive impact on the overall industry as this new category is emerging and growing. It allows anyone to explore how to create interactive and intelligent NFTs that are not just static JPEGS.

Our thesis is that this category will continue to grow and we’ll start seeing more and more creative experimentations in a broader light. It could be anything like art, music, voice, video, etc where the NFT assets are going to be powered by intelligence. The future is exciting!

What stage has Alethea reached now? Are all targets in accordance with the current road map? and what are the next steps that will be taken in the future?

With the launch of CharacterGPT, a very powerful multimodal Generative AI that allows anyone to create interactive and intelligent characters, we will open access to more developers and creators to create applications and explore their creativity. This year, we will be growing from the current two dApps on the AI Protocol to a significantly larger number as we continue to scale and grow.

We already have the convergence of CharacterGPT and the AI Protocol, which translate as the AI and Blockchain elements coming together to provide value to the users. We are excited to see the users create and bring their AI assets and character to life. This will help the eco evolve and also bridge the gap between Web2 and Web3.

One of the challenges in Web3 is to onboard people and help them understand blockchain, wallet, etc., and it becomes even more complicated when you add AI on top of it. So taking people on this educational journey helps to ensure that they are not intimidated but rather curious. These AMA sessions with communities or rewarding the new users with some ALI Utility Token when they create a new AI character help them nurture their curiosity and start asking questions.
