Celebrating Unity and Abilities: Gate Charity & SLB's Inclusive Event for Children with Disabilities

Gate Charity, the global non-profit philanthropic organization of Gate Group, in collaboration with SLB Negeri Prof. Dr. Sri Soedewi Masjchun Sofwan, SH, in Indonesia, proudly recaps its exceptional charity event “Embracing Inclusion for Children with Disabilities,” which took place from August 14th to 17th, 2023. This event marked a significant stride towards fostering inclusivity and celebrating the spirit of unity among students with varying disabilities.

SLB Prof. Dr. Sri Soedewi Masjchun Sofwan, SH, established in 1982, stands as a beacon of hope and progress for children with diverse needs. Catering to multiple majors such as vision impairment (A), hearing impairment (B), mental retardation (C), physical disability (D), and autism (F), the school accommodates students across three levels - Elementary School, Junior High School, and Senior High School.

The collaborative effort between Gate Charity and SLB shines brightly. “Embracing Inclusion for Children with Disabilities” event brought together over 440 students and staff members from SLB to celebrate the uniqueness and potential of each individual.

The event featured a range of engaging competitions carefully curated to resonate with students across various majors and school levels. The competitions, fostering teamwork, camaraderie, and healthy competition, showcased the incredible abilities of these exceptional students. Some of the remarkable competitions included:

• Coloring Competition: A creative outlet that transcended abilities. Elementary students from majors C, D, and F took part on Tuesday, August 15th.
• Wheelchair Basketball: Promoting inclusivity in sports, students from Elementary, Junior High, and Senior High major D engaged on Monday, August 14th.
• Balloon Dance: Uniting students through movement, Elementary, Junior High, and Senior High students from majors A, C, and F participated on Tuesday, August 15th.

The event culminated on August 17th, coinciding with Indonesia’s Independence Day, with a celebration of unity and diversity and the announcement of competition winners.
